Lyeth was one of the first wineries in California to pursue the unique complexity acheived by the marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon with other varities, known as Meritage.
Located in St. Helena, California, Lyeth Estate Vineyards is known as a Meritage pioneer and producer of quality, blended, Bordeaux-style wines. The Boisset family purchased the estate more than 20 years ago, and today the Lyeth vineyards (under the watchful eyes of winemakers Bill Arbios and Jean-Charles Boisset) still produce the flagship, blended, Bordeaux style wine, the Meritage. With Jean-Charles’ guidance, Lyeth has continued to grow and produce a variety of premium wines. Along with Meritage, the Lyeth Estate is known for other unique blends, such as Fleur de Lyeth, and premium varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Sonoma favorite – Pinot Noir.
In 1981, Chip Lyeth founded the Lyeth Estate on his ranch in Sonoma County. He was inspired to create delicious and unique blended wines after a family trip to Bordeaux, France in the late 1970s. During his visit, Chip watched generations of people working in the vineyards and tending the vines together. He discovered that the people were proud of what they accomplished by working with the winery and Chateau to create a unique and special wine.
