North Coast

Pinot Noir

With its roots so deeply ensconced m the foundations of Sonoma where it was established in 1857, Buena Vista Winery is again introducing wines from the North Coast. These wines include a diverse array of varietals that celebrate the diversity of the North Coast's terroir and the contribution of Buena Vista to establishing the California wine world.

Tasting Notes

Our 2016 North Coast Pinot Noir opens with ripe red fruit aromas mixed with cardamom and cocoa powder.

Red fruit flavors continue through to the palate with cherry pie accented by notes of cinnamon and mocha. Lower acidity balanced with bright flavors and a satisfying finish makes this an immediately enjoyable wine.

Vintage Notes:

The 2016 vintage in Sonoma County was the earliest harvested vintage to date, beginning in early August and finishing in mid-September. A hot and dry summer led to developed fruit and rich, ripe flavors and while yield was down overall, the smaller berries had concentrated flavors and exceptional quality. The grapes for this Pinot Noirwere harvested in mid- September before being sorted, pressed and aged for II months in a blend of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. This enjoyable Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards in Sonoma and Lake Counties, including vineyards in the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Valley and Carneros - all part of California's distinctive North Coast appellation.
