Exclusive Selection

Fruit for our Napa Valley Zinfandel is a blend of two Zinfandel vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. The grapes were hand-picked and hand sorted before being gently pressed off early to preserve the bright fruit aromatics. The wine was then aged for 10 months in 25% new French oak. Tightly grained barrels yield their oak characteristics in a more deliberate fashion for a consistent, well-rounded aging process.

Tasting Notes

On the palate, there is a hint of oak accompanied by notes of raspberries, strawberries, licorice, red currants and spice.

The finish is slightly sweet with flavors of cranberry and pepper rounding out the wine, making it the perfect pairing for rich cheeses, duck, and roasted lamb.

Vintage Notes:

The 2017 vintage marked the end of a 5-year drought. Harvest began early at a normal pace in many regions, and then progressed rapidly during a heat wave in late August and early September. Grapes ripened gradually in the cooler temperatures arriving in mid- September. In October, wildfires arrived at the end of harvest when 90% of the grapes were already in. The fires challenged the entire community, but Napa community is resilient and continued to move forward with a profound appreciation for everything we have.
