1 1/2 Acre

Red Wine

2016 was our fourth harvest of our meter by meter planting at Raymond Vineyards. Our estate is planted to all five varietals of a classic Bordeaux blend and designed to be the truest expression of terroir from our certified organic and Biodynamic® vineyard. Harvested on October 8, a fruit day in accordance with the Biodynamic calendar, the grapes were in their optimal state for the wine to realize its full potential.

Tasting Notes

The 1 ½ Acre opens with boasting aromas of blueberry and blackberry complimented by subtle oak spice.

On the palate, this wine is dense yet balanced with fine tannins and intense flavors of boysenberry, tea leaves and a hint of cinnamon. The finish is long and juicy.

Vintage Notes:

The 2016 vintage across California was a near-perfect growing season. A mild winter and spring led to a steady and mild July and August, followed by warm days at the end of the season for the perfect ripeness. With warm days and cool nights in the summer, grape growers were able to maintain ideal acid levels with balanced, concentrated fruit flavors. This vintage contains all five planted varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The organic grapes were co-fermented together and underwent an extended maceration for 46 days before aging in 48% new French oak barrels for 20 months.
