The Rockpile AVA of Sonoma County is a remote region ranging in elevations from 800 to 1200 feet, allowing for plentiful sunlight with less fog, thanks to an inversion layer created by nearby Lake Sonoma. The rocky hillsides stress the vines which results in small grape yields and concentrated, intense flavors.

Tasting Notes

Our Rockpile Zinfandel is savory and supple with notes of dried figs, dark chocolate, and black cheery.

Flavors of baking spices and plum great the palate, leaving an intense, yet satisfying finish. This wine pairs brilliantly with wild boar & butternut squash stew, shepherd’s pie, or wild mushroom lasagna. This is a wine you will want more of.

Vintage Notes:

Ranging from 800- 1,200 feet in elevation in the Rockpile appellation, this vineyard has sweeping sun exposures from southeast to northwest and consists of different blocks of Zinfandel. Working with the different sun exposures, soil compositions, slopes and drainages is what makes our Rockpile Zinfandel so great. The 2016 vintage across California was a near-perfect growing season. A mild winter and spring along led to warm days and cool nights in the summer, and grape growers were able to maintain ideal & balanced acid levels of the fruit.
