2018
Rutherford
-
Description
The grapes were harvested primarily from our Rutherford estate with a splash from another vineyard to really enhance the appellations characteristics. Fruit was selected from the older estate blocks that are planted in Pleasanton Loam soils, which keep the vines cool and slows ripening.
Aroma:Charming aromas of blackberries, stewed plums, chocolate mint, tobacco, earth and spice emerge from the glass.
Palate:This is a full-bodied wine with loads of black fruit preserves and crème de cassis. It has a good mid-palate depth and velvety tannins. The finish is balanced and lingers.
Vintage Notes:2018 was a near picture-perfect growing season that began in late February followed by a mild Spring yielding uniform grape clusters. Temperatures remained moderate to cool throughout the season with 2018 being considered one of the coolest vintages of the past decade. The cooler temperatures allowed for a longer hangtime resulting in an even and temperate harvest.
