The stunning Central Coast of California offers warm days with a strong marine influence that brings cool nights and a long growing season. Varied topography and remarkably diverse terrior infuse the unique nature of the Central Coast into our awe-inspiring Lockwood wines. Grapes are selected only from specific, vigilantly maintained, and thoroughly analyzed blocks across the expansive Central Coast. After defining our blocks, we implement viticultural protocols tailored to suit each vine’s set of unique characteristics. Pruning strategies, shoot thinning practices, leaf removal techniques, and specified crop levels are assigned to optimize quality and we selectively harvest each block.

Tasting Notes

This 2020 Central Coast Chardonnay opens with vibrant stone fruit aromas mixed with notes of green apple and grapefruit.

Scintillating and liberating, the citrus flavors are revealed on the crisp palate with lemon and lime zest layered with hints of toasted almond. The subtle oak and refreshing acidity leaves a beautifully balanced and long-lasting finish that unlocks the hidden beauty of the California Central Coast.

Vintage Notes:

2020 kicked off with ideal growing conditions. Mild temperatures led to evenly developed clusters and an early budbreak was followed by a warm to hot summer. Low winter rains resulted in smaller berries with concentrated flavors. Harvest began in early August and all things pointed to normal yields and exceptional fruit quality.
