Description

Generations is a tribute to the Raymond family’s five generations of winemaking in the Napa Valley. This limited production wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash of Petit Verdot. Grapes were fermented on the skins and underwent extended maceration for an average of 43 days to lend complexity and depth to the wine before being racked to new, tight-grained, medium and medium-plus toast French oak barrels for 20 months of aging. Only our best barrels from Taransaud, Baron and Ermitage were selected for this Cabernet Sauvignon. We used 61% new oak and put the balance in once-used barrels. This wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered on July 15, 2019.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:

Deep garnet purple in color.

Aroma:

The nose reveals black currant, baked black cherries, anise, boysenberries and a hint of candied violets.

Palate:

This is a fruit-forward, juicy and bold wine with layers of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate and a touch of mint and spice. Full-bodied and rich with round and finely-grained tannins there is a nice freshness on the long and fragrant finish.mineral notes.

Vintage Notes:

The grapes for the 2017 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon were grown in four vineyards throughout Napa Valley including the west side of St. Helena, the east side of Oakville,Yountville and the hills of eastern Napa. The sweet fruit andlush characteristics come from the St. Helena and Oakville vineyards while the fruit from Yountville provides more density to the mid-palate. The eastern Napa fruit brings power and elegance to the overall wine. By blending grapes from these renowned vineyards and appellations, we are able to make a wine that truly represents the best of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and honors our five generations of making wine in the Napa Valley.
