Proprietor Jean-Charles Boisset’s French Bulldog, Frenchie, represents the very essence of style, charisma and personality. With his stout stature and ability to steal everyone’s heart, he is definitely royalty around the winery. Although he may not go down in history as one of the greatest military leaders of all time, Frenchie will definitely go down in history as the greatest four-legged winemaker.

On Sunday, December 2, 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte was crowned as Emperor of France. Not wanting to be an old regime monarch, Napoleon explained that “to be king is to inherit old ideas and genealogy. I don’t want to descend from anyone … he title of Emperor is greater.” Napoleon has gone down in history as the greatest leader of France.

Tasting Notes

Enticing dark fruit aromas of plum and blackberry are accented by notes of currant and black tea.

On the palate the dark fruit flavors continue mixed with pomegranate and a touch of cracked pepper. This wine has a soft entry with majestic tannins and a finish like French Royalty.

Vintage Notes:

The grapes for the 2019 vintage were harvested from vineyards in four different Napa Valley appellations. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from vineyards in St. Helena, adding a lovely sweetness to the tannins, Rutherford which adds structure to the wine and Atlas Peak giving the wine a nice acidity and freshness. This enticing Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with Cabernet Franc from Rutherford and a touch of Petit Verdot from a vineyard located in Northern Napa Valley.
