2019
Russian River Valley

Chardonnay
SKU: WCHRV193

Voluptuous whites are richer in texture, thanks to riper fruit. Most are dry wines that feature the added flavor complexity of new oak barrel use, but a handful are lusciously-sweet late-harvested dessert wines.

FOOD PAIRING: Ideally suited to richer dishes and cooked foods, like GRILLED OR FRIED SEAFOOD, POULTRY & WHITE MEATS, plus dishes featuring BUTTER, ONIONS or NUTS.

Description

Our Russian River Valley Chardonnay is predominantly harvested from vineyards which are certified Sonoma Sustainable and each contributes its own unique complexities to the final blend.

Tasting Notes
Aroma:

Opening with ripe notes of grilled pineapple, cinnamon toast and crème brûlée, this is a delicious Chardonnay made in the French-inspired tradition of white Burgundy, but with a fun-loving California twist.

Palate:

Juicy flavors of Gravenstein apple, lemon and grapefruit are met with a hint of white flower on the nose. The mid-palate has a food-friendly heft balanced with lingering acidity and yielding a refreshing finish.

Winemaking
Vintage Notes:

Heavy spring rains enriched the soils and delayed bud break by a few weeks. A heat spike in June, followed by warm weather, brought about an even veraison throughout the vineyards. A cooling trend and touch of rain in mid-September created ideal conditions for the 2019 harvest which is considered a near-perfect vintage.
