Meursault "Limozin"

Chardonnay
SKU: 1JBMELW318

Voluptuous whites are richer in texture, thanks to riper fruit. Most are dry wines that feature the added flavor complexity of new oak barrel use, but a handful are lusciously-sweet late-harvested dessert wines.

FOOD PAIRING: Ideally suited to richer dishes and cooked foods, like GRILLED OR FRIED SEAFOOD, POULTRY & WHITE MEATS, plus dishes featuring BUTTER, ONIONS or NUTS.

Description

This unusual vintage produced healthy sun-ripened flavors that made balanced and concentrated wines, but the harvest took place in the reverse of the traditional order in that picking began with the reds before the whites. The quality was good but the low juice yields resulted in low crop volume and fewer bottles produced than usual, but with excellent concentration and bright acidity.

Winemaking
Vintage Notes:

With nearly 400 ha of vines, Meursault stands out in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune for the quality of its white wines and the precociousness of its reds. The village's slopes are fairly steep and almost always oriented to the east and south for ideal exposure to the rising sunt. Among the thirty named vineyard sites located on the primary hillside, many are ranked as "Premier Cru" sites, but many of the village-ranked climats have also earned historic recognition for their exceptional wines. "Le Limozin" is nestled between two prestigious Premier Crus - "Les Genevrières" and "Les Charmes" - and provides a very good example with as much or more consistency as a Premier Cru. As is often the case in Burgundy, the name of this vineyard site refers to a feature of the landscape, in this case a small creek: “Le Limozin” comes from "En Limosin", a stream which flows alongside this vineyard.
