Le Royal Blanc de Noir

Sparkling
Description

Our Russian River Valley Blanc de Noir sparkling wine is harvested from Heintz Vineyard, Green Valley of the Russian River Valley. Located above the town of Occidental on the western edge of the Green Valley, the vineyard lies on a gentle south facing slope, composed of Goldridge sandy loam soils intermixed with fractured sandstone. This is a highly sought terroir for quality wine, due to its excellent drainage and low fertility. The Pinot Noir sourced for this wine is from two clones — Dijon clone 113 and the Beringer clone. Clone 113 is the most elegant with perfumed aromatics, amplifying the prettiness of the wine, where the Beringer clone consistently produces quality and graceful fruit of pedigree — being one of the first Pinot Noir clones planted in the US.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:

Our Blanc de Noirs is bright, fresh, and perfumed to the nose along with a hint of peach aromas in association with floral notes of peonies and freesia — strawberry and raspberry appear on airing in the glass.

Palate:

The flavors build in the midpalate with a lingering, and elegant finish.

Winemaking
Vintage Notes:

Heintz Vineyard, farmed by Charlie Heintz, sits atop a ridge at 900 feet in elevation in the Green Valley area of the Russian River Valley. Its gently sloping sides are rich in Goldridge sandy loam with two to three feet of topsoil followed by layers of clay. The Heintz family has been farming Heintz Ranch for over a century. Charlie, along with his eight siblings, spent many hours working on the ranch as they grew up, and in 1984, Charlie took over the reins. The southwestern facing vines are located in the banana belt of the Green Valley, and tend to ripen earlier than much of the valley.
