Jovita's Selection

Chardonnay
Description

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spmt and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

Tasting Notes
Aroma:

Our 2017 Jovita's Selection Chardonnay opens with an alluring bouquet of mango and honeysuckle and a note of caramelized vanilla.

Palate:

Rich tropical flavors of Mandarin oranges and pineapple spread across the palate with a touch of citrus zest complemented by white peach. Full bodied with moderate acidity, this Chardonnay is soft upon the palate with a long, clean finish.

Winemaking
Vintage Notes:

Named for the wife of the Count's son, Arpad, and the daughter of General Mariano Vallejo, Jovita's Selection Chardonnay is harvested from two sandstone soil vineyards in Sonoma, Gap's Crown and Durell Vineyards. The grapes were hand-harvested between September 2 and October 6 and whole cluster pressed and the wine was then aged for 14 months in 35% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered.
