As with his music, John searched for the right collaborator, a vineyard whose pursuit of the perfect blend and standards of excellence equaled his own. With roots deep in the Napa Valley and award-winning wines known for beautiful balance, finesse and power, Raymond Vineyards was the perfect match. Tasting Notes

Our 2018 LVE Chardonnay is toasty and balanced. Its rich nose delivers aromas of French toast, Bosch Pear and Honey Dew Melon.


Full, rich and long on the palate, it’s reminiscent of crème anglaise and toast from the Francois Frere barrels with a hint of nutmeg and citrus zest. It has a nice acidity that makes you salivate through the finish until your next taste.

Vintage Notes: 

Our Chardonnay comes from two vineyards in Carneros, both on the west side. The first vineyard is on a sloping hillside with deep soils weathered from sandstone and shale which yields aromatic fruit with a nice acidity. Some consider this the best area in Napa Carneros. The second vineyard, is on alluvial soil on the valley floor which produces grapes with weight and flesh that brings more texture to the wine. Together, the fruit harmonizes to great a well-balanced Chardonnay. The wine was 100% barrel fermented in a mix of Francois Frere and Leroy oak barrels – 39% new – for 10 months before bottling. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation with a mix of native and inoculated ferments.
